Sculptural Tools
My interest in utilitarian pottery supports and represents our intimate rituals of nourishment and celebration. I have focused on making large scale installation pieces with decals of floral images from the garden, adding some found objects such as local driftwood as handles
Collaboration with Fashion designer Hazel Green
In August 2021 the Council of Fashion Designers www.cifd.com and Design and Craft Council of Ireland www.dcci.ie collaborated on a catwalk event. Designer and maker members were selected to work together on a one off piece. Fashion designer Hazel Green requested me to work with her on a piece. We drew up a plan on our initial phone conversation; as a one on one meeting was restricted due to covid. Over a number of weeks we talked through our ideas, I created a large collection of porcelain pieces and Hazel painted images on silk and created a kimono style dress, and selected pieces from my collection to attach to the kimono. I am currently developing this new range of porcelain jewellery.
